Someone had to say it… To me (and the bible???), it is the love (as defined in 1 Corinthians 13:4–7) of money that is actually the root of all good.

Earlier today I was in my car and the lightbulb went off. More often and (my guess) more likely than not, it is the lack of money where “evil” stems from when it comes to money. Here’s why I say this:

As a Christian, you learn a lot about what’s right and wrong (according to the bible), and to some degree there’s probably a level of good in that (morality-wise). However, what I often did not like, was Christianity presenting itself to serve as an answer to everything, hence, providing very “black” and “white” answers when we live in a world full of gray.

The scripture I am referring to is 1 Timothy 6:10 that says “For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.” The scripture continues by saying “But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness” 1 Timothy 6:11 KJV.

Don’t get me wrong, I completely understand what is being stated and implied here. My issue lies more so in the language, and my struggle with the many opportunities for confusion…
