My Life Drastically Improved When I Stopped Blaming the Devil for Everything

Accountability is far more liberating.

One of the first decisions that led me on my deconstruction journey was when I suddenly decided to stop blaming the devil for every single “bad” thing in my life. I was just beginning to learn that we had a significant role in our own lives. That we could make our own choices and it would directly impact the life we lead.

I never knew that.

All my time in church led me to believe that my life was in God’s hands, and anything I needed help with, He would fight my battles for me. It led to a mild “hands-off” approach to my life when things got tough.

It was like clockwork.

When the going got tough, and even when there were mild inconveniences in my life, I began to blame the devil. I would then pray to God that He would handle the devil for me so that I no longer had to experience the suffering.

Of course things would eventually subside, and I would thank God. I would then testify to my friends/family of what the Lord set me free from, and the lessons God taught me through the “trail” or “test” where He was allowing the devil to interfere with my life.
